All ingredients are natural and regenerative – no paraffin or soy waxes used! We exclusively source surplus beeswax and pine rosin from local small farmers in Portugal, so every batch of KIKI is made close to the source which reduces impact and carbon emissions on our environment. It’s made and packaged by hand in low impact paper packaging.

Paraffin is used in about 95% of surf waxes sold today. Paraffin is a dirty byproduct of petroleum - aka harmful to extract from the earth, process, package, and use. Soy wax is a better alternative but not by enough - it’s grown as monocultural agriculture which is harmful to the soil and general ecosystem, and requires crude oils to extract soy wax from the soy plant itself.

KIKI Natural Surf Wax is made by hand in small batches. We hand measure, mix, pour, and package so we can ensure quality natural surf wax each and every time.

Yes, but we recommend starting with a clean board because of differences in the properties of various synthetic vs. natural waxes.

The natural surf wax will work much better with a natural base coat as well.

To do so, put your board in direct sunlight for a few hours, then scrape the sludge off and wipe the rest with a rag.

Apply natural surf wax in the shade or inside. Always apply a base coat first in a crisscross pattern then in circular strokes, creating a textured layer. Apply wax wherever you’ll be putting your feet. The harder base coat surf wax will help your top coat stick better and last longer.

The idea is to create bumps and ridges on the surface for better traction. Press down as you rub the wax onto the board.

Apply surf wax as needed before paddling out. Depending on water and air temperature, you may need to adjust the pressure and angle of your strokes.

Note that harder wax (base coat) may require more pressure, while softer wax (cool and cold) may spread more easily with lighter pressure.
